Sergej Khomov

Born in Odessa, tenor Sergei Khomov first studied acting and then singing in his home town. Following his vocal studies, he was engaged at the opera in Kishinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. He joined the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 1996/97 season and has since performed the most important roles in his field. Guest engagements have taken him to the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper and to Geneva, Lisbon, Lyon, Genoa and Amsterdam. His repertoire includes the Verdi roles Alfredo ("La traviata"), Riccardo ("Un ballo in maschera") and Don Carlo, as well as Edgardo (Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor"), Hoffmann (Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann"), Lenski (Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin"), Massenet's Des Grieux ("Manon") and Werther, Don José (Bizet's "Carmen"), Julien (Charpentier "Louise"), Mephistopheles / Agrippa (Prokofiev "The Fiery Angel"), Prince (Dvořák "Rusalka"), Turiddu (Mascagni "Cavalleria rusticana"), Grimaldi (Schreier "Schade dass sie eine Hure war"), A Soldier (Ullmann "Der Kaiser von Atlantis"), Hermann (Tchaikovsky "Queen of Spades") as well as Herod (R. Strauss "Salome") and Meister Pedro (de Falla "Meister Pedros Puppenspiel"). In the 2022/23 season, Sergej Khomov will once again appear at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Ein Soldat. He will also interpret the role of Charles VII in Tchaikovsky's "The Maid of Orleans".
