Conductor and Repetiteur

Christoph Stöcker studied church music and conducting/orchestral conducting in his native city of Würzburg, among other places. His first permanent engagement took him to the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin as a solo répétiteur. After a further engagement as solo répétiteur and assistant to the GMD at the Städtische Bühnen Münster, where he conducted across all genres, he worked for several years as solo répétiteur at the Hamburg State Opera. As an assistant he took part in many opera productions at home and abroad. He has a long-standing relationship with the Bayreuth Festival, where he has worked regularly as musical assistant to Christian Thielemann, Hartmut Haenchen and Axel Kober, among others, since 2006. He has received teaching assignments at the conservatories in Hamburg, Cologne and Düsseldorf. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein he was Musical Director of the Opera Studio from 2009 to 2014. Since 2014 he has been engaged here as Kapellmeister and Korrepetitor and has taken over Il barbiere di Siviglia" (Rossini), "Don Giovanni" and "Die Zauberflöte" (Mozart), as well as the children's operas "Hänsel und Gretel" (Humperdinck), "Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse" (Toch), "Vom Mädchen, das nicht schlafen wollte" (Lange), "Ronja Räubertochter" (Arnecke), "Die Schneekönigin" (Lange), three episodes of "Der Opernbaukasten" with Malte Arkona and Blacher's "Romeo und Julia". In the 2022/23 season, he will be responsible for the musical direction of "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" (Ullmann), among others.
