Venezuelan tenor Andrés Sulbarán studied at the El Sistema Academy (Fundación Musical Simón Bolívar), where he worked with conductor Gustavo Dudamel, among others. He won 1st prize at the Concours International de Chant Toulouse in 2019, and a special prize at the International Christmas Singing Competition in Minsk in 2018. From 2016 to 2018 he was a member of the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia. In international concert tours as soloist of the renowned Coro Sinfónico de Occidente and Coral Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar de Venezuela he played the roles of Peter Quint (Britten's "The Turn of The Screw"), Vitellozo (Donizetti's "Lucreczia Borgia"), Tebaldo (Verdi's "I vespri siciliani"), Bastien (Mozart's "Bastien und Bastienne") and in the Haydn operas "Philemon und Baucis" and "Il Mondo della Luna". Guest engagements have taken him to Spain and France. From 2018 to 2020 Andrés Sulbarán was part of the Opera Studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he appeared on stage as Parpignol (Puccini "La Bohème"), Sir Bruno Roberton (Bellini "I puritani"), Tschaplitzki "Pique Dame" (Tchaikovsky), Prince (Lange "The Snow Queen") and Oronte (Handel "Alcina"). With the 2020/21 season he moved to the permanent ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and has since sung the roles of Tybalt (Blacher "Romeo and Juliet"), Nemorino (Donizetti "L'elisir d'amore"), Orpheus (Offenbach "Orpheus in der Unterwelt"), Young Sailor (Wagner "Tristan und Isolde") and Construction Worker (Bach "Weihnachtsoratorium - Szenen einer schlaflosen Nacht"). In the 2022/23 season Andrés Sulbarán can be seen at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Tonio in Donizetti's "La fille du régiment", Fenton in Verdi's "Falstaff", Ernesto in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale", Steuermann in Wagner's "Der fliegende Holländer" and again as Nemorino, as well as in the concert series "Symphoniker im Foyer".
