Born in China in 1994, tenor Shengwu Ou graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Xianghai Conservatory of Music in 2017. From 2020 to 2021 he was an academist in the Young Artists Programme of the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Florentino. In 2022 he completed his training with the concert exam with Prof. Snežana Stamenković at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim. He also took part in various master classes, was a scholarship holder of the Leiminer Foundation and received the "Young Artists" sponsorship award from the Friends of the Schlossfestspiele and Stadtwerke Ettlingen. He is a multiple prize winner of various international singing competitions and won, among others, the 9th Fausto Ricci Competition in Viterbo in 2021, at the 26th Josep Mirabent i Magrans Competition in Sitges he was awarded 2nd prize in 2022. Shengwu Ou made guest appearances in the role of The Young Gentleman in Philippe Boesmans' "Reigen" at the Wilhelma Theatre in Stuttgart and the National Theatre in Mannheim, among others, as Tamino (Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte") at the Ettlingen Castle Festival, as Rinuccio (Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi") at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto and as Ernesto (Donizetti's "Don Pasquale") at the Teatro Unione Viterbo. Further engagements brought him to the Teatro comunale Mascagni in Chiusi, Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto, Teatro Goldoni and Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence as well as the Teatro Traiano in Civitavecchia. In concerts he has appeared with the Philharmonie Baden-Baden and the Kammeroper München, among others. Since the 2022/23 season Shengwu Ou is a member of the Opera Studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and takes on the roles of Prince of Persia (Puccini "Turandot"), 1st Harnessed Man (Mozart "The Magic Flute") and Don Curzio (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro"). He will also appear in concerts on the local stages.
