Heidi Elisabeth Meier

Heidi Elisabeth Meier studied concert and opera singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and graduated with a master class diploma. She won the Anneliese Rothenberger Singing Competition in 2003 and was awarded the Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize in 2009. She was voted Opera Singer of the Year by Deutschlandradio in 2010. Before joining the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in 2012, she was engaged at the Theater Freiburg and Staatstheater Nürnberg. As a lyric coloratura soprano, she sang roles such as Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Olympia in Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann", Musetta in Puccini's "La Bohème", Gilda in Verdi's "Rigoletto", Gretel in Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel", Musetta (Puccini's "La Bohème"), Gilda (Verdi's "Rigoletto"), Euridice (Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice"), Sophie (R. Strauss "Der Rosenkavalier"), Zerbinetta (R. Strauss "Ariadne auf Naxos"), Adele (J. Strauss son "Die Fledermaus"), Woglinde (Wagner "Das Rheingold" and "Götterdämmerung"), Romilda (Händel "Xerxes") as well as, among others, the Mozart roles Sandrina ("La finta giardiniera"), Donna Anna ("Don Giovanni"), Susanna ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Konstanze ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Servilia ("La clemenza di Tito"), Pamina and the Queen of the Night ("Die Zauberflöte"). She has made guest appearances at numerous German opera houses, in Hong Kong and the USA. She is also a regular concert singer with renowned conductors and orchestras, performing works ranging from Bach to contemporary music. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Heidi Elisabeth Meier most recently appeared on stage as Berta (Rossini's "Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Madame (Weinberg's "Masel Tov! We congratulate!"), Venus (Offenbach's "Orpheus in der Unterwelt") and Birk (Arnecke's "Ronja Räubertochter"). In the 2022/23 season she will take on the roles of Pamina, Lisa (Bellini "La sonnambula"), Gretel and perform in concerts.
