Step by Step

With the STEP BY STEP programme, the Ballett am Rhein and the tanzhaus nrw join forces to develop experimental formats that promote young talent. Dancers from the ballet company and freelance dance artists who work regularly at the tanzhaus nrw exchange ideas, their artistic work and methods and form new constellations. In a group-driven, non-hierarchical process, there are no guidelines: whether contemporary, performative, urban, classical on pointe or crossover - the two-day programme at tanzhaus nrw is full of possibilities that are shaped by the choreographers and dancers themselves. What do municipal theatre and the independent scene have to say to each other? What bridges need to be built? What can we learn from each other? How can we question dance and think it through further? Or throw ourselves in at the deep end together? Experiments, trials and new arrangements are needed. Establishing such a fragile, open space needs not only courageous artists, but also an open and curious audience. Let us be curious together.
