Born in Finland, Sami Luttinen studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Before joining the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, he was employed at the Theater Kiel from 1995. He made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2000 and at the Bayrische Staatsoper in München in 2006. Furthermore, he has worked with conductors such as Roger Norrington, Jirí Kout, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos throughout Europe. With an extensive repertoire at his disposal, he has performed at various festivals and is a regular guest at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Finnish National Opera.
In the 2025/26 season, he will appear as the Doctor (Berg's “Wozzeck”), Bartolo (Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro”), Timur (Puccini's "Turandot"), Sarastro (Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”), Sawjol Prokofjewitsch Dikoj (Janáček's “Katja Kabanova”) and in “Comedian Harmonists”.
