Threshold of a Fall (world premiere)
At the heart of this triple bill is David Dawson’s award-winning classic, which explores an elusive yet hopeful state between ending and beginning. "The Grey Area" points to a no-man’s-land beyond time and space: with expansive, freely flowing movement phrases and a finely tuned musical sensibility, the choreography seems to defy gravity, celebrating the beauty of a moment in which dynamism, timelessness, and emotional intensity converge.
Not the destination, but the journey itself forms the point of departure for Bridget Breiner’s new creation "Shards". Drawing on the musical interpretations of Jeff Buckley, she turns to the unfinished—to that which does not end, but continues to resonate. Together with the company, she explores a state of in-betweenness as an ongoing movement: encounters and separations, proximity and distance, holding on and letting go. Like a song that lingers beyond its final note, the choreography follows a trace that does not lead to closure, but carries on.
Bringing this exploration of in-between spaces to a close is "Threshold of a Fall" by Canadian choreographer Lesley Telford. Set within a suspended, stylised forest, the work reflects on the fragile relationship between human beings and the systems they have created. What appears stable and unshakeable can reveal its vulnerability through the slightest shift. Inspired by the parable of the Sword of Damocles, a space of utmost balance emerges—sustained by a dense soundscape, always on the verge of tipping.
