Nicole Schrumpf

Clarinetist Nicole Schrumpf began taking her first clarinet lessons with Kurt Karst in 1982 and achieved success on several occasions in the “Jugend Musiziert” competition from 1987 to 1993. In 1990, she became a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Youth Orchestra and, beginning in 1993, studied with Hans Pfeifer at the State University of Music in Heidelberg-Mannheim. After completing her studies, she undertook a one-year internship with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden. Beginning in 1997, she was employed by the Munich Radio Orchestra, first as associate principal clarinetist and later as principal clarinetist. She has held this position with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra since 2005.
