Romanian bass Beniamin Pop completed his bachelor's and master's degree at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. He began his solo career in 2014 at the Romanian National Opera there. In 2016, he became a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he had the opportunity to refine his skills under the guidance of renowned artists such as Franz Grundheber, Peter Seiffert, Linda Watson, and Bo Skovhus.
He is a member of the ensemble since 2018, taking on important roles such as Colline (Puccini's “La Boheme”), Figaro (Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro”), Leporello (Mozart's “Don Giovanni”), Raimondo (Donizetti's “Lucia di Lammermoor”), Angelotti and the Sacristan (Puccini's “Tosca”), and many more.
He has appeared as a guest on several European stages, including the Aalto Theater Essen, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Musikverein Graz, and at festivals such as the Heidenheim Opera Festival and the Klosterneuburg Opera Festival. He has also performed in his native Romania at the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest.
In addition to his opera work, Beniamin Pop also devotes himself to oratorio. His repertoire includes key works such as Verdi's and Mozart's Requiem, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, and Mendelssohn's Elijah.
In the 2025/26 season he will interpret the roles of Ferrando (Verdi’s “Il trovatore”), Timur (Puccini’s “Turandot”), High Priest of Baal (Verdi’s “Nabucco”), Procolo (Donizetti’s “Prima la Mamma!”) and Zuniga (Bizet’s “Carmen”) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
