Andrzej Filończyk

Born in 1994, Polish baritone Andrzej Filończyk completed his studies at the Academy of Music in Wrocław under Bogdan Makal. He was a member of the Young Talents Programme of the Polish National Opera under Eytan Pessen and the International Opera Studio in Zurich. In 2016, he took part in the Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project and returned to the Salzburg Festival in 2017 as Gubetta in Donizetti's "Lucrezia Borgia". He made his opera debut in 2015 at the Teatr Wielki in Poznań under the direction of Gabriel Chmura as Tonio in Ruggero Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci". His other repertoire includes Figaro in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" and Guglielmo Cecil in Donizetti's "Maria Stuarda" and Marcello in "La bohème". Most recently, he sang roles in "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Palau Les Arts in Valencia, "Die tote Stadt" at the Bavarian State Opera and "La bohème" at the Royal Opera House, the Teatro San Carlo and the Teatro Real de Madrid, as well as "I Puritani" at the Frankfurt Opera, "Don Giovanni" at the Semperoper Dresden and "Il barbiere di Siviglia" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
Andrzej Filończyk regularly works with conductors such as Nicola Luisotti, Daniele Gatti, Emmanuel Villaume and Pier Giorgio Morandi, as well as with directors such as Damiano Michieletto, Emma Dante, Mario Martone and Richard Jones. Filończyk was awarded first prize at the ninth Stanisław Moniuszko International Singing Competition (2018).
