Krzysztof Bączyk

Bass Krzysztof Bączyk is a graduate of the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznán and was a member of the opera academies at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw and the Teatr Wielki in Poznán. There he appeared in Shostakovich's "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk" as well as Ambroise Thomas' "Hamlet", "Aida", "Eugene Onegin", "Le nozze di Figaro", "Parsifal", "Don Giovanni" and "Der Freischütz", among others.
His participation in the Academy of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in the summer of 2012 laid the foundation for an intensive collaboration with the festival. In the following years, Bączyk appeared there in productions of Cavalli's "Elena", "The Magic Flute", "Alcina", "Don Giovanni" and Prokofiev's "The Fiery Angel". In January 2016, he made his debut at the Polish National Opera as Publio in "La clemenza di Tito".
In recent years, Krzysztof Bączyk has made guest appearances at, among others at the Metropolitan Opera ("Aida", "La bohème"), the Paris Opéra ("Don Carlo", "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk", "Tosca", "Il barbiere di Siviglia", "Iolanta", "Don Giovanni", "I Capuleti e i Montecchi", "Il pirata"), the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Opéra de Rouen, the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona ("Il trovatore"), the Lyric Opera of Chicago, at the Glyndebourne Festival and at the Cologne Opera ("Luisa Miller"), at the Zurich Opera House ("I Capuleti e i Montecchi", "Alcina", "Lucia di Lammermoor"), in the Verona Arena ("Aida", "Carmen", "Tosca"), at the ABAO Bilbao Ópera ("La bohème") and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris ("Alcina").
As a concert singer, Krzysztof Bączyk has appeared in Mozart's Requiem at the Opéra national de Lorraine and with the Orchestra dell'Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, in Rossini's Stabat Mater with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the Philadelphia Orchestra and in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Following his appearances in "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Salzburg Festival, he will soon be appearing as Figaro at the Hamburg State Opera as well as in "La bohème" at the Met and "Luisa Miller" at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
