Andrés Sulbarán

Andrés Sulbarán, originally from Venezuela, studied at the El Sistema Academy (Fundación Musical Simón Bolívar), where he worked with conductor Gustavo Dudamel, among others. He won first prize at the Concours International de Chant Toulouse in 2019 and a special prize at the International Christmas Singing Competition in Minsk in 2018. From 2016 to 2018, he was a member of the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia. In addition to concerts with the Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana and international concert tours as a soloist with the renowned Coro Sinfónico de Occidente and Coral Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar de Venezuela, he has appeared as Peter Quint (Britten's “The Turn of The Screw”), Vitellozo (Donizetti's “Lucrezia Borgia”), Tebaldo (Verdi's “I vespri siciliani”), Bastien (Mozart's “Bastien und Bastienne”) and in Haydn's operas “Philemon und Baucis” and “Il Mondo della Luna.” Guest engagements have taken him to Spain and France. From 2018 to 2020, Andrés Sulbarán was a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, before joining the ensemble, where he has since performed in several roles.

In the 2025/26 season, he will appear as Jesus (Donizetti's “Prima la Mamma!”), Alfred (J. Strauss (son)'s “Die Fledermaus”), Tamino (Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”) and First Grail Knight (Wagner's “Parsifal”).
