The German-Greek soprano Anna Sophia Theil began her vocal training with Prof. Gabriele Fuchs in Munich and completed her studies in singing and vocal pedagogy in 2022 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz with Prof. Hermine Haselböck. She took part in various master classes, including with KS Edith Mathis, François Le Roux, Edith Wiens and Charles Spencer. During her studies she appeared as Cupido (Offenbach "Orpheus in der Unterwelt"), Susanna (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro") and Miss Wordsworth (Britten "Albert Herring"). She made her debut at the Stephaniensaal of the Musikverein Graz in 2019 as part of a "musical aperitif". Since then she has sung there the first soprano in Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Lobgesang" under Christoph Altstaedt and Gretel in Humperdinck's original version of "Hänsel und Gretel". In 2021 she was a scholarship holder of the Province of Styria. She also won first prize at the IMMCC Maribor international Singing Competition 2021 and was a semi-finalist at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2023.
Since the 2022/23 season, Anna Sopia Theil has been a member of the Opera Studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she has appeared on stage as Giannetta (Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore"), Ida (J. Strauss Sohn's "Die Fledermaus"), Sandmännchen (Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel"), Papagena (Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte") and Juliette (Korngold's "Die tote Stadt"). She also made a guest appearance as Susanna at the Aachen Theatre. In the 2023/24 season, the roles of Iweins Herz (Eggert "Iwein Löwenritter"), Berta (Rossini "Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Tebaldo (Verdi "Don Carlo"), Sandmännchen and Papagena await her at the Rheinoper, as well as a guest engagement as Valencienne in Lehàr's "Die lustige Witwe" at Theater Hagen.https://www.annasophiatheil.com
