Valentin Ruckebier

Born in Wuppertal in 1997, Valentin Ruckebier studied singing with Prof. Konrad Jarnot at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. During his studies, he sang various opera roles; he also performs regularly as a song and oratorio singer and in vocal ensembles, with a growing focus on new music. He is a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, received the Ria Fresen Foundation's sponsorship award, and was a finalist in the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation's singing competition in 2019. He also won first prize at the 2022 Bundeswettbewerb Gesang and was honored in 2024 as part of SWR Young Opera Stars. Ruckebier is also active as a composer (studied in Düsseldorf with Prof. Manfred Trojahn and Prof. Oliver Schneller). His works have won awards at numerous international competitions and are regularly premiered by renowned performers and ensembles. In 2021, his opera “Die Flucht nach Ägypten” was performed at the Landestheater Linz, the Teatro Comunale di Modena, and the Serbian National Theatre Novi Sad. Valentin Ruckebier was a member of the opera studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein from 2022 to 2024 before he joined the ensemble and has already appeared on stage in several roles.

In the 2025/26 season, he will perform the roles of Méthousaël (Gounod's “Die Königin von Saba”), the High Priest of Baal (Verdi's “Nabucco”), Speaker (Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”), as well as Alidoro (Rossini's “La Cenerentola”) and Sagrestano (Puccini's “Tosca”).
