After engagements at the Landestheater Coburg, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Hamburg-born German-Ethiopian mezzo-soprano Sarah Ferede became a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in 2012. Prior to that, she was engaged at the Staatstheater Braunschweig from 2008. A student of Prof. Charlotte Lehmann, she has won several prizes at renowned singing competitions. Guest engagements have taken her to the Staatsoper Hannover, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Theatre Bonn, and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, among others. As part of her busy international concert schedule, Sarah Ferede has worked with conductors such as Adam Fischer, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Ulf Schirmer, Charles Dutoit, Kent Nagano, and Stefan Soltesz. She can be heard as Sieglinde and Waltraute on the complete recording of Wagner's “Der Ring des Nibelungen” with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Axel Kober.

In the 2025/26 season, her roles at the deutsche Oper am Rhein include Marie (Berg's “Wozzeck”) and Kundry (Wagner's “Parsifal”), as well as Sieglinde (Wagner's “Die Walküre”), Second Lady (Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”) and Third Maid (R. Strauss' “Elektra”), among others.
