The Korean soprano Chorong Kim first completed her vocal studies at Seoul National University before taking her master's degree in opera singing at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Prof. Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr. She gained her first stage experience in opera and concert productions at the university, including Belinda in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" at the Aachen Theatre. She is the winner of numerous competitions: she won first prizes at the Educlassic Music Competition (2011), the Viva M Music Competition (2017) and the 7th Brigitte Kampen Competition (2021). Since the 2021/22 season, Chorong Kim has been an opera studio member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she appeared on stage in her first season as Barbarina (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro"), Papagena (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte"), Taumännchen (Humperdinck "Hänsel und Gretel"), Kammerfrau of Lady Macbeth (Verdi "Macbeth") and Gianetta (Donizetti "L'elisir d'amore"), among others.
In the 2022/23 season, Chorong Kim will take on the roles of Franka in Lucia Ronchetti's world premiere of "Das fliegende Klassenzimmer", Barbarina (Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro"), Laudine (Eggert's "Iwein Löwenritter"), Zerlina (Mozart's "Don Giovanni") and once again Papagena and Taumännchen. She will also perform in master class concerts and in the "Symphoniker im Foyer" series.
