Ako Sago

Ako Sago was born in Japan and began dancing at the age of five at L’espoir de ballet in Gifu. She won prizes at the Youth America Grand Prix Japan and reached the finals in both 2020 and 2021, which led to her admission to the European School of Ballet in Amsterdam. In 2021, she continued her training at the Ballet School of Theater Basel, graduating in summer 2023. During her studies, she performed at the Gala of the Ballettschule Theater Basel in works by Craig Davidson and Richard Wherlock, and in her final semester she worked with Igor Bacovich, danced in "Travellous" by Iratxe Ansa and "Chäs" by Heinz Spoerli.
Since the 2023/24 season, Ako Sago has been a member of the Ballett am Rhein, where she has danced in productions by Demis Volpi, including "Giselle", "Krabat", "Non-Fiction Études" and "Surrogate Cities" and appeared in various works such as "Rubies" by George Balanchine, "Enemy in the Figure" by William Forsythe, "Baal" by Aszure Barton, "A Kiss to the World" by Dominique Dumais as well as "Biolographie" by Bridget Breiner, "Vers un pays sage" by Jean-Christophe Maillot, "Boléro" by Richard Siegal. Additionally she performed the role of Sophia in Bridget Breiners "Ruß - Eine Geschichte von Aschenputtel".
