Maria Kataeva is in demand internationally and has made guest appearances at some of the world's most renowned opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Semperoper Dresden, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Since becoming a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she regularly performs central roles in her field. She also gained international attention through awards at Operalia (2nd prize & audience prize), the Paris Opera Competition, and the Meistersinger Competitions in Nuremberg. Kataeva regularly performs alongside Plácido Domingo in his zarzuela program and made her debut at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in 2021.

In the 2025/26 season, she will sing Rosina (Rossini's “Il barbiere di Siviglia”) in Palermo, Carmen (Bizet's “Carmen”) in Bari, Angelina (Rossini's “La Cenerentola”) in Baden-Baden, and María (Piazzolla's “María de Buenos Aires”) in Düsseldorf and Duisburg, among other roles. Furthermore, her US debut at the San Francisco Opera is planned for 2026.
