Riccardo Romeo was born to Italian parents in Augsburg and grew up bilingual. He studied singing at the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main with Prof. Berthold Possemeyer and at the CNSM de Paris in France in the class of Yves Sotin.
In his youth, he sang in various choirs at the Albert Greiner Sing- und Musikschule in Augsburg and in the children's and youth choir of the Augsburg Theater and performed as a soloist in several opera productions. During his studies, he appeared as a guest at Staatstheater Nürnberg, Staatstheater Darmstadt, and the Oper Frankfurt. He also made guest appearances at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne and the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
In the 2020/21 season, Riccardo Romeo was a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Schleswig-Holstein before becoming a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Dresden from 2021 to 2024. Since the 2024/25 season, he has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, where he has already appeared in roles such as Spoletta (Puccini's “Tosca”), Gastone (Verdi's “La traviata”), and Roderigo (Verdi's “Otello”).

In the 2025/26 season, he will appear as Rinuccio (Puccini's “Gianni Schicchi”), Tichon (Janáčzek's “Katja Kabanova”) and Jaquino (van Beethoven's “Fidelio”), among others.
