Born in Poland, Katarzyna Kuncio first studied singing in Poznan before moving to Vienna to study with Walter Berry. She also took masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Gundula Janowitz, Theo Adam, and Ernst Haefliger, among others. In 1997, she won first prize at the Schubert Singing Competition in Osaka (Japan). From 1998 to 2004, Katarzyna Kuncio was engaged at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven and then joined the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Here she performed a variety of roles by Mozart, for example, but Wagner roles are also part of her repertoire. In 2013/14, she made her highly successful debut as Charlotte (Massenet's “Werther”).

In the 2025/26 season, Katarzyna Kuncio will take on the roles of the Guard (Puccini's “Suor Angelica”), Marcellina (Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro”), the Third Lady (Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”), and Cornelia (Händel's “Giulio Cesare in Egitto”).
