Born in 1997 in Modena, Italy, Matteo Guerzé was a member of the Luciano Pavarotti Children's Choir of the Pavarotti-Freni Theatre in his hometown as a child. The baritone is the winner of various singing competitions such as the Concorso Lirico Magda Olivero Milan, the Fausto Ricci International Singing Competition Viterbo and the Toti Dal Monte 2021 in Treviso. In 2017 he took part in a summer academy at the OpernAkademie Berlin e.V. and also trained in concert and opera singing at the Accademia Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence. In 2018 he made his debut as Peter in Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel" at the Teatro Regio in Parma. He subsequently sang roles such as Guglielmo (Mozart "Così fan tutte"), Malatesta (Donizetti "Don Pasquale"), Amonasro (Verdi "Aida") and Ein Perückenmacher (R. Strauss "Ariadne auf Naxos") at festivals and the opera houses of Sassari, Florence and Viterbo. At the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in 2022 he presented Don Profondo in Rossini's "Il viaggio a Reims" under Daniel Carter. Since the 2022/23 season, Matteo Guerzé has been a member of the Opera Studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein and has appeared on stage as Der Hohepriester (Massenet "Hérodiade"), Der kaiserliche Kommissar (Puccini "Turandot"), Le Duc (Donizetti "La Fille du régiment"), Abbé von Chazeuil / Maggiordomo (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur") and Notar (Donizetti "Don Pasquale"). After a guest engagement as L'Horloge Comtoise / Le Chat in Ravel's "L'Enfant et les sortilèges" at the Salzburg Festival, his roles at the Rheinoper in the 2023/24 season include Barone Duphol (Verdi "La traviata"), Jailer / Thierry (Poulenc "Dialogues des Carmélites") and Fiorillo (Rossini "Il barbiere di Siviglia"). He can also be seen here again as the Imperial Commissioner and Le Duc. Furthermore, Matteo Guerzé is guesting at the Wexford Festival Opera in Donizetti's "Zoraida di Granata" as Ali Zegri.
