Janetka Emilia Hosco

The Slovakian mezzo-soprano Janetka Emilia Hoşco was born in Romania and began her musical studies at the Gheorghe Dima National Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where she first obtained a Bachelor’s degree and then a Master’s degree. Since 2024, she has been studying at the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, one of Italy’s leading opera academies.

Zerlina in ‘Don Giovanni’, Marcellina in ‘Le nozze di Figaro’, Rosina in ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’, Dorabella in ‘Così fan tutte’, Nireno in ‘Giulio Cesare’ Ciesca in “Gianni Schicchi” and Olga in “Eugene Onegin”. Her most recent performances include the role of Lola in “Cavalleria Rusticana”, directed by Robert Carsen, and the role of the “British Dancing Girl” in “The Death of Klinghoffer”, staged by the Italian film and opera director Luca Guadagnino.

Janetka Emilia Hoşco has already received numerous prizes and awards at international competitions, including third prize in 2025 at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico VOX MUTINAE “Nicolai Ghiaurov” in Modena and first prize at the “Premio Belcanto” in Parma. Also in 2025, she was a semi-finalist at the renowned Klaudia Taev Competition in Pärnu, Estonia. Through masterclasses and training programmes, she has already had the opportunity to work with numerous international opera artists, such as the mezzo-sopranos Viorica Cortez and Ruxandra Donose, the tenor Francesco Meli, the sopranos Jessica Pratt and Eleonora Buratto, the baritone Luca Salsi, the bass-baritone Bruno de Simone, conductor and vocal coach Eugenio Tangucci, and opera director Francesco Micheli.

From the 2026/27 season, she will be a member of the Opera Studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
