English baritone Conrad Chatterton is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. He studied with Mark Wildman, completed his studies with an Advanced Diploma in Opera, and received the Regency Award for outstanding achievement. He also completed his master’s degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Matthew Best, graduating with honors, and holds a degree in geography from the University of Aberdeen.
His already extensive stage repertoire includes Papageno in “The Magic Flute,” Peter Besenbinder in “Hansel and Gretel,” Guglielmo in “Così fan tutte,” Sir John Falstaff in “Sir John in Love” by Vaughan Williams, Mr. Gedge in Benjamin Britten’s “Albert Herring,” Edmund Bertram in “Mansfield Park” by Jonathan Dove, and the title role in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi.” At the Glyndebourne Festival, where he also spent several seasons as a member of the Festival Chorus, he appeared on stage as Kromow in “The Merry Widow” and Curio in “Giulio Cesare,” and was engaged in 2025 as an understudy for Schaunard in “La Bohème.” Conrad Chatterton is also active as a concert singer and has already performed in numerous concerts and oratorios, including “Elijah” by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, “A German Requiem” by Johannes Brahms, “Petite Messe Solennelle” by Gioacchino Rossini, and Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio.” In 2026, Conrad Chatterton was selected for the International Meistersinger Academy (IMA).
From the 2026/27 season, he will join the Opera Studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
