Heidi Elisabeth Meier studied concert and opera singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and graduated with a masterclass degree. She won the Anneliese Rothenberger Singing Competition in 2003, was awarded the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize in 2009, and was voted Opera Singer of the Year by Deutschlandradio in 2010. Before joining the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she was engaged at the Theater Freiburg and the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Her repertoire as a lyric coloratura soprano includes Mozart roles such as Donna Anna and Pamina, as well as bel canto roles such as Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi's Gilda, and Strauss' Sophie.
Guest engagements have taken her to numerous German opera houses, Hong Kong, and the USA. She also regularly performs as a concert singer with renowned conductors and orchestras, singing works ranging from Bach to contemporary music.
In the 2025/26 season, she will continue to perform the role of the 5th Maid in Richard Strauss’s “Elektra” and will appear with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra in a matinee concert on the theme of “Female Composers” In the coming season, Heidi Elisabeth Meier will take on the roles of the Third Norn (Wagner’s “Götterdämmerung”), Micaëla (Bizet’s “Carmen”), Gretel (Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel”) and Pamina / First Lady (Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”). She will also appear in the family opera “Die verzauberte Stadt” (Penderbayne) and in the operetta concerts “Tonight or Never” and “The Whole World is Sky Blue”, and will contribute to “Rendezvous at Half Past Seven: Opera Meets Elektrobeats” and a song matinee.
