Stefan Heidemann, appointed Kammersänger in 2003, studied in Hanover with Prof. Charlotte Lehmann, won a prize at the ARD Music Competition in 1990, and received his first permanent engagement at the State Theater in Nuremberg. Subsequent engagements took him to Saarbrücken, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Graz, Linz, Vienna, Granada, Tokyo, Taipei, and the three Berlin opera houses, among others, in the course of his career. He celebrated successes in numerous roles at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 2007, he made his debut in the difficult baritone role of Wotan/Wanderer in Wagner's “Ring”-cycle at the Theater Lübeck. This production was released on DVD and won the Echo Klassik Award in 2012. He subsequently made guest appearances as Wotan (Wagner's “Die Walküre”) in São Paulo, Kurwenal (Wagner's “Tristan und Isolde”) in Toulouse, Dr. Schön (Berg's “Lulu”) in Santiago de Chile, and in 2023/24 in Klagenfurt as Alberich in Wagner's “Der Ring des Nibelungen.”

At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Stefan Heidemann will once again appear as Prison Director Frank (J. Strauss (son)’s “Die Fledermaus”) and Peter in “Hänsel und Gretel” (Humperdinck) in the 2025/26 season.
