Philip Handschin

Philip Handschin was born in Switzerland and trained at Theater Basel’s ballet school, while also attending the Gotland International Dance Seminar in Sweden in 2008 and a Boston Ballet summer course in 2009. After a three-month guest contract at the Finnish National Ballet, he took up his first full engagement as a member of Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2010/11 season.
Here he has danced a leading role in ‘Bournonville Divertissement’ by August Bournonville, as well as appearing in works choreographed by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, William Forsythe, Martin Schläpfer, Amanda Miller, Hubert Essakow and many others. Most recently he danced in Aszure Barton's "Come In", Roland Petit's "Carmen", Michèle Anne de Mey's "Phlegmatic Summer", the role of Carlos Fleta in Demis Volpi's "Closed Games", the role of the father in Volpi's "Der Nussknacker" and in "The thing with feathers", among others.
