The Schumanns' music rooms were creative and social hotspots: composers and musicians, poets and artists met here, became friends, and friends became patrons. In the Skyline Concerts, we transform this special dynamic into the present day.
In 2026, four chamber music concerts will take place for the fourth time in high-altitude rooms with views over the rooftops of Düsseldorf. Afterwards, the audience and artists can meet in a relaxed atmosphere.
For the first Skyline Concert, we turn our gaze to Vienna – and to a work that has accompanied violinist Benjamin Schmid for years: Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Suite op. 23 for two violins, violoncello, and piano left hand. Between late Romantic opulence and chamber music sophistication, it unfolds its full colorfulness.
Gustav Mahler's early one-movement Piano Quartet in A minor shows a different, sensitive side of Vienna. Robert Schumann closes the arc with his Piano Quartet – a work that lends passionate radiance to the genre.
