Alma Ruoqi Sun

Soprano Alma Ruoqi Sun was born in Harbin, China. She studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Henriette Meyer-Ravenstein and Michelle Breedt (Master's degree, 2023).
Since the 2023/2024 season, Alma Ruoqi Sun has been a member of the International Opera Studio at the Stuttgart State Opera, where she sings roles such as Frasquita (Carmen), A Voice from Heaven (Don Carlo), Papagena/Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), and Sandman and Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel). In the 2024/2025 season, she was engaged by Theater Aachen as the Queen of the Night in the new production of Mozart's “The Magic Flute.” At the Stuttgart State Opera, she will also reprise the role of the Queen of the Night and sing the title role in Pinocchio, the children's opera of the same name by Lucia Ronchetti.
During her studies, she took part in masterclasses with Christiane Iven, Brigitte Fassbaender, Capucine Chiaudani, Helmut Deutsch, and Franz Hawlata. She was a scholarship holder of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Frankfurt am Main e.V. In productions at the university, she sang Leonora in “The Long Christmas Dinner” by Paul Hindemith, Madame Herz in “Der Schauspieldirektor” by Mozart, Amor in “Orfeo ed Euridice” by Gluck, and Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel” by Humperdinck. In 2018, she appeared as Taumännchen in “Hansel and Gretel” at the Burgfestspiele in Bad Vilbel and in 2021 she guest starred as Cis in Benjamin Britten's “Albert Herring” at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. In the summer of 2023, she performed at the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie in Neumarkt.
