Jacquelyn Wagner

Jacquelyn Wagner studied singing at the Manhattan School of Music and the Oakland University of Michigan. She has won prizes at numerous international competitions. The US-American was also a scholarship holder of the Jenny Lind Society and received a Fulbright scholarship. As a former ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she appeared there as Violetta Valéry (Verdi "La traviata"), Pamina (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte"), Micaëla (Bizet "Carmen"), La Contessa di Almaviva (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro") and as Gretel (Humperdinck "Hänsel und Gretel"), among others. The freelancer's repertoire includes Leonore (Beethoven "Fidelio"), Elsa (Wagner "Lohengrin"), Agathe (Weber "Der Freischütz"), Donna Anna (Mozart "Don Giovanni"), Eva (Wagner "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"), Rosalinde (J. Strauss Sohn "Die Fledermaus") and Marschallin (R. Strauss "Der Rosenkavalier"). In addition to numerous other roles, the youthful dramatic soprano has also appeared on internationally renowned stages in the title roles of Salome (R. Strauss), Oceane (D. Glanert) and Theodora (G. F. Handel). A milestone in her career was her interpretation of R. Strauss' title role Arabella at De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam. In recent years, engagements have taken her to the Zurich Opera House and the Teatro Real de Madrid, the Opéra National de Paris, the state operas in Vienna, Hamburg and Stuttgart, the Semperoper Dresden, the Easter Festival in Salzburg and the festival in Aix-en-Provence. In 2022/23, she made her house debuts at the Teatro Regio in Turin and as Magda (Puccini "La rondine") at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. She is also in demand as a concert performer and works with internationally renowned conductors.
At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Jacquelyn Wagner has already interpreted Desdemona (Verdi "Otello") and the title roles in "Alcina" (Handel) and "Arabella" (R. Strauss). In the 2023/24 season, she will return to the DOR as the title character in Leoš Janáček's "Jenůfa".
