Mezzo-soprano Anna Harvey trained as a singer in Cambridge and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In addition to many awards she won the Audience and Oratorio Prizes at the s’Hertogenbosch International Vocal Competition in 2017 and First Prize (the Prix Pierre Verne) at the Paris Opéra Competition in January 2022. Engagements have taken her to De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, Welsh National Opera, Deutsche Nationaltheater Weimar, Dortmund and Chemnitz, to the Verbier Festival, Garsington Opera, Birmingham Opera Company and the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Her repertoire includes parts such as Ariodante from Handel’s opera of the same name, Cherubino (Mozart ‘Le nozze di Figaro’), Hänsel (Humperdinck ‘Hänsel und Gretel’), Prince Orlofsky (Johann Strauss ‘Die Fledermaus’) as well as Nerone (Monteverdi ‘L’incoronazione di Poppea’), Flora Bervoix (Verdi ‘La Traviata’), the Second and Third Ladies (Mozart ‘Die Zauberflöte’), Zulma (Rossini ‘L’italiana in Algeri’) and Bradamante in Handel’s ‘Alcina’. Anna Harvey also performs numerous oratorios internationally.
She has been a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble since 2018/19 and has appeared here as Hänsel (Humperdinck ‘Hänsel und Gretel’), Flosshilde (Wagner ‘Das Rheingold’, ‘Götterdämmerung’), Tisbe (Rossini ‘La Cenerentola’), Suzuki (Puccini ‘Madama Butterfly’), Polina (Tchaikovsky ‘Queen of Spades’) and The Child (Ravel ‘L’Enfant et les Sortilèges’).
