Dmitri Vargin

Soloist
The baritone Dmitri Vargin trained as a singer in Samarkand, Tashkent and Hamburg. He has been a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble since 2005/06, and has appeared here in the Mozart parts Guglielmo (‘Così fan tutte’), Papageno (‘Die Zauberflöte’) and Count Almaviva (‘Le nozze di Figaro’), as Achilla (Handel ‘Giulio Cesare in Egitto), Belcore (Donizetti „’L’elisir d’amore’) and in Puccini’s ‘La Bohème’ as Marcello and as Sharpless (‘Madama Butterfly’), Silvio (Leoncavallo ‘Pagliacci’), Valentin (Gounod ‘Faust’), Albert (Massenet ‘Werther’), Pélleas (Debussy ‘Pélleas et Mélisande’), Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Herald (Wagner ‘Lohengrin’), Harlequin (Richard Strauss ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’) and Demetrius (Britten ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’), Dottore Malatesta (Donizetti ‘Don Pasquale’), Dandini (Rossini ‘La Cenerentola’), Barbiere (Rossini ‘Il barbiere di Siviglia’), ‘Die Schneekönigin’ (Lange) and in the ballet productions ‘Ein Deutsches Requiem’ (Brahms) and ‘Kindertotenlieder’ (Mahler).
His guest appearances include ‘Eugene Onegin’ in Montevideo in 2011, Count Almaviva at the Semperoper Dresden in 20123, and performances in Berlin at the Komische Oper, in Erfurt, at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, in Essen, Cologne, Hamburg, on several occasions at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and at the Glyndebourne Festival under Vladimir Jurowski.
