Rolf A. Scheider
                            
            Bass-baritone  Rolf A. Scheider studied singing at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and at the  Cologne University of Music. His vocal training with Cornelius Reid (New York)  and Carol Bagott-Forte (Canada) left a lasting impression on him.
Rolf A. Scheider has worked at numerous theatres in Germany and abroad for many years. The following are just a few examples: Aachen, Bielefeld, Erfurt, Münster, Theater Hagen, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Wuppertal, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Opera Zuid/ NL, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, Opernhaus Halle and many more.
In addition to many feature and buffo roles such as Don Magnifico (Rossini “La Cenerentola”), Bartolo (Rossini “Il barbiere di Siviglia” and Mozart “Le nozze di Figaro”), Jupiter (Offenbach “Orpheus in der Unterwelt”), Obolski (Burkhard “Das Feuerwerk”), Sulpice (Donizetti “La fille du regiment”), Zeta (Lehár “The Merry Widow”), his repertoire also includes serious roles such as the Broom Binder (Humperdinck “Hänsel and Gretel”), Landgrave Hermann (Wagner “Tannhäuser”), Kaspar (Weber “Der Freischütz”), Faninal (Strauss “Der Rosenkavalier”), Zaccaria (Verdi “Nabucco”), Mefistofele (Boito) and Pizarro (Beethoven “Fidelio”).
In recent years, there has been a unique cross-over project of a special kind: Rolf A. Scheider appeared as a guest (singer) in the US television series “Better Late Than Never” and stood in front of the camera together with Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman. The episode was broadcast to millions of US television viewers in January 2018.
At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Rolf. A. Scheider has already appeared as Sergei Mentschikoff (Lehár “Der Graf von Luxemburg”’), Mr Rifkin (Reynolds “Geisterritter”) and Angelotti (Puccini ‘Tosca’) and most recently as Justus (Ronchetti “Das fliegende Klassenzimmer!). In the 2024.25 season, he returns as Lazar Wolf in Jerry Bock's musical “Anatevka”.
