“What is the price of paradise and who has to pay for it?” asks Belgian choreographer Stina Quagebeur in her new creation "Omelas", which is based on a dystopian short story by Ursula K. Le Guin. Intuitive and urgent, in a composition of organ sound and orchestral force, abstract and narrative at the same time, she creates a journey at the pulse of today.
We are celebrating Glen Tetley's 100th birthday with a dance classic. “Voluntaries” (1973) is a combination of ballet and modern dance that demonstrates Tetley's unique style. Inspired by the latin word “volare” - “to fly”, episodes of floating bodies are created, propelled by the sinuous melodies of the organ and the urgent rhythms of the drums in the music.
Goyo Montero's “Aurea” refers to the natural and artistic harmony principle of the golden ratio. In his search for perfect form and movement - beauty in itself - the Spanish choreographer resorts to “Passacaglia”, the musically and mathematically “perfect” work by Bach, in combination with a composition by Owen Belton.
