With a new soundtrack by “Kreidler”
(Thomas Klein, Alexander Paulick and Andreas Reihse)
Great cinema in the opera house – round two: Following Karl Bartos’s resounding success with “The Cabinet of Dr Caligari”, we are presenting another classic from the silent film era at the Opernhaus Düsseldorf, accompanied by a spectacular new soundtrack. Almost exactly 100 years to the day after the premiere of Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis”, the band “Kreidler” will provide a new soundtrack for the silent film classic live on the opera stage.

The Düsseldorf-based band “Kreidler” – formed by Thomas Klein, Alexander Paulick and Andreas Reihse – has, since its formation in 1994, been one of the most influential groups in the genre of modern, electronic-based pop, a sound for which they repeatedly incorporate acoustic instruments. The band enjoys cult status internationally – particularly due to their precise live performances, which feel like minimalist sonic journeys.
